TRYOUT INFORMATION
Reach for the Stars!!!

Tryouts are scheduled for April 13th at 8:00 pm for the 1999-2000 academic year. All spots in the squad are open. In-coming freshmen are able to try-out, most try-out spring of the freshman year. The squad is comprised of up to nine women and nine men; plus the Golden Eagle Mascot.

The squad placed 12/25 in Division II at the NCA Collegiate Championships in Daytona Beach, Flordia, April 1997. We have qualified for the 1999 championships over spring break. It will be aired on CBS April 20th.

Required skills for try-outs include the CU fight song, and a cheer; jumps (toe touch and one other); partner stunts; chair/cradle, Purdue-up shoulder stand, elevator/cradle; gymnastics, include a back handspring or a back tuck. (these can be done standing, or in a tumbling pass). The last element that is strongly recommended for tryouts is an Elite Partner stunt. This is a minimum Liberty/Cradle, but could include heelstretches, awesomes, or scorpions.
***NOTE*** tumbling is a required element of try-outs, but most men have made the squad without having more than a round-off; and the candidate's own routine (showcasing your best quality : another jump or partner stunt; tumbling; a cheer or dance; ......)

***CHEERLEADERS must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average***
